1. Who is responsible for your personal data

Petfolio is operated by SparkOptimus B.V., a company incorporated under Dutch law, acting as data controller for the personal data processed through the Petfolio platform during the MVP and experimentation phase.

SparkOptimus operates Petfolio on behalf of Nestlé Purina, which supplies rewards, content, and access to parts of the Nestlé Purina ecosystem.

During the MVP phase, SparkOptimus is the contractual party for consumers participating in the Petfolio loyalty program and is responsible for compliance with applicable data protection laws.

Nestlé Purina and other Nestlé group companies may receive personal data as described in this Privacy Notice, either as independent data controllers or as data processors of data, depending on the specific processing activity.

2. What personal data Petfolio collects

Petfolio collects personal data that you provide directly and data generated through your use of the platform.

  • Age confirmation (18+)
2.2 Pet owner profile data
  • First and last name
  • Date of birth
  • Address details, optional/on as-need-basis
  • Phone number, optional
  • Profile photo, optional
2.3 Pet profile data
  • Pet name
  • Species, breed, and gender
  • Date of birth or age
  • Size and weight
  • Feeding habits and preferences
  • Life stage information
2.4 Pet health and document data
If you choose to use pet health related features, you may upload documents such as:
  • Vaccination records
  • Pet passport
  • Veterinary documents
  • Other pet related health documents
Uploaded documents may contain personal data visible on the files. Uploading health documents is optional and controlled by you.
2.5 Rewards and loyalty data
  • Points earned and balance
  • Tasks completed
  • Rewards claimed
  • Redemption history
2.6 Receipt and purchase data
When uploading receipts:
  • Receipt images
  • Retailer name
  • Purchase date
  • Product and brand information
  • Validation status
Receipts may be reviewed automatically and manually to prevent misuse or fraud.

3. How Petfolio uses your personal data

Personal data is used to:
  • Create and manage your Petfolio account
  • Operate and evaluate the Petfolio MVP and loyalty experiments
  • Award points and manage rewards
  • Validate receipts and prevent fraud or misuse
  • Provide pet related guidance and platform features
  • Communicate with you about your account, rewards, or support requests
  • Improve the platform and user experience
  • Meet legal and regulatory obligations

4. Legal basis for processing

Personal data is processed based on:
  • Performance of a contract, including participation in the Petfolio loyalty experiments
  • Consent, where required, for example for optional features or cookies
  • Legitimate interests, such as fraud prevention, analytics, platform improvement, and security
  • Legal obligations, where applicable

5. Sharing personal data

Personal data may be shared with:
  • Nestlé Purina and other Nestlé group companies, such as Nestlé Purina PetCare UK Ltd, ZigZag (Petcare Services Ltd), and Wamiz (Société WAMIZ). These parties may receive personal data either as independent data controllers for their own purposes or as data processors within the Petfolio ecosystem, depending on how the data is used
  • Service providers, supporting hosting, analytics, fraud detection, receipt validation, and customer support
  • Authorities or regulators, where required by law
Personal data is not sold.
Where Nestlé Purina or other partners act as independent data controllers, their own privacy notices apply to their processing activities.

6. International data transfers

SparkOptimus operate internationally. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, appropriate safeguards are applied, such as standard contractual clauses, to ensure an adequate level of protection.

7. Data retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary:
  • Account and profile data, for the duration of your account
  • Rewards and receipt data, as required for loyalty operation and fraud prevention
  • Pet health documents: until deleted by you, account deletion, or deletion following a prolonged period of account inactivity
  • Support data: for a limited period after resolution, and no longer than necessary, after which it is deleted or anonymized
Retention periods may be adjusted to meet legal or regulatory requirements.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:
  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Object to certain automated processing

9. Account deletion

You can delete your account via the Petfolio platform. Upon deletion, personal data will be deleted or anonymized unless retention is required by law.

Petfolio uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform and improve performance. Where required, consent is requested before placing non essential cookies.
